I see girls pulling out their tip money from working at restaurants just to pay for one of these bags. I understand that Coach is a very high quality bag, and the name is extremely high dollar. However, we have bags by designers like Donald J. Pliner that aren't behin
d a counter, and just as high dollar as Coach. I actually think it is higher dollar than Coach, because his smallest bag is $425.00, while the average Coach bag behind the counter is around $398.00, but it is much larger.
So how does Coach have such a strong target market? Teenage girls spend all the money they have one a handbag, college students spend an entire month's rent on one, and older women routinely by a handbag once a month. Maybe its the consistently classic look that never goes out of style, or the few new pieces they come out with every month that give people something to look forward to by routine.
I'm personally awed by the new Tattersall pattern they came out with which has the coated canvas for easy cleanup.

Coach handbags are very classic. I actually did a study my first semester in my retail class about Coach. Did you know that the founder of Coach was first inspired by the baseball glove? That's right, Miles Cahn saw that thematerial of leather was of good quality and formulated a way to process it in order to make it stronger, more flexible, and softer.
I also found out information Cahn’s wife, Lillian, also had a major influence on the company because she insisted that the company should design a number of woman’s handbags instead of just wallets and billfolds. The designs on the handbags complemented the other products in the factory, and were a major success. The purses were made from cowhide and had a lasting efficiency. The first purse was given the name Coach. (Coach Leatherware)By 1980, Coach began to sell their products in department stores. They also began mail-orders, and the demand for Coach started to increase.
Also, if you look at history... around spring of 2003, Coach stayed away from darker colors in order to appeal to younger customers. The company introduced larger bags with brighter colors. This was called the Manhattan collection, and the demands for goods kept on increasing. Coach then expanded its manufacturing to Puerto Rico.
Coach is a global company and has stores in Europe and Japan.
In 1991 Coach created a campaign for "An American Legacy." Maybe that's why it is so popular.
Coach handbags are luxurious and made with the finest quality. I have several coach products and love them. They never go out of style and something I can pull out when the seasons change.
